The Case of Beasts! Fantastical Beasts and Finding Them. DIY how to make the case of beasts and what to fill it with.
How to turn a plain white cigar style craft box into a super fun cheeky case of beasts. I made this for my college daughter and she loved it. It just looks like an ordinary box, right? Ahh, but we all know the magic is within! First things first. Tap the box with your wand and place an undetectable extension charm on it. We are going to need all the space we can get. C u tomorrow for the beginning of the build. ; D cheers!
This was a wooden castle that I found at Michaels craft store in the wood craft isle. It's a great size for The Harry Potter Mini Collection toy figures (Amazon.com). The toy action figures are all under 4" tall and perfectly playable for the Harry Potter fan. Also, what I liked about this project is that it was quick and easy. It took me about a week from beginning to end. It was fun and I used alot left over craft supplies I already had.
To decorate my interpretation of Hogwarts I used scrapbook paper, stickers, bits and bobbs, miniatures from the fairy garden isle and half scale miniatures. Some stuff I had, I wasn't too picky about the paper, stickers or even the accessories. Some of the tiny furniture had to be modified or painted. I even used some Lego pieces. I just wanted to have fun with this project. I also used two strands of moon lights (one each side) to illuminate Hogwarts.
Crazy Harry Potter inspired box. DIY with Tim Holtz and Dylusions , ink spray, stickers, glitter, bits and bobbs, etc.
Start with a white craft box. I wanted to experiment and also keep it fun. So I textured on a bit of gesso here and there. After it dried, I sprayed on blue ink spray and blotted the excess off. Then sprayed on purple ink spray. Blotted the excess off. Then a bit more blue. After that, it was all about decorating it. I used what ever I had on hand. I cut out three glittery characters from a Halloween card. They represent Harry, Ron and Hermione. It wanted it to be completely crazy and off the wall. So I used what I had and just went with it.
A sampling of some of the art supplies. However, I continue to point out, I just used what I had and tried to get crazy with it. I wanted the box to be colorful with a blue and purple night sky background. I wanted it to be a fun project so I was sure to use glitter! Lol, I felt like a kid making a huge mess.

"We have a witch in the family!" You must b so proud. My witch is furthering her muggle studies at a muggle university. Remember when sending a package to an hp nutter that details make he difference. Wrap ur package in brown paper. Use tacky glue to adhere the back and side seams. Then use a glue stick to glue on the labels. Make the labels on graphics software and run onto the same packaging paper. The package will look like it was magicked together. ; D
Cheers! I'm Erin Hellebuck. The nutter artist who loves to make things inspired by the wondrous world of Harry Potter. I have a husband, kids and dogs.
